Search and rescue workers recovered three bodies from the Mississippi River on July 23 after a group of men were reported missing in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park north of Memphis.
The men were identified as Marlon Mendez, 28, Rudy Perez, 31, and Jose Yanes, 52, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said in a statement on social media.
Patrol deputies were notified after 7 p.m. on July 22 that three adult men were reported missing in the Mississippi River near the Shelby Forest boat ramp, officials said. The men were fishing and swimming on a sand bar south of the boat ramp.
Shelby County officials were joined in the search along the Mississippi River by multiple local, state and federal agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The search was suspended around 10:30 p.m. on July 22 but resumed the morning of July 23. The first two bodies were recovered around 11:00 a.m. and the third around 12:45 p.m., officials said.

The official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner and the investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff's office.
