Outlander Cast Reunites at Wedding Aimee Spinks - STARZ
Congratulations are in order for Outlander star Richard Rankin and his fianceé Sammie Russell. The couple were recently married at Hopetoun House, a stately residence that has served as a regular Outlander filming location, just outside of Edinburgh, Scotland
Rankin, who plays Roger MacKenzie on Starz’s beloved time traveling romance drama, was celebrated by many of his Outlander castmates. Per The Daily Record, the guest list included his onscreen parents-in-law, Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) and Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), as well as Lauren Lyle (Marsali MacKimmie Fraser), John Bell (Young Ian), Joey Phillips (Denzell Hunter), Izzy Meikle-Small (Rachel Hunter), Caitlin O'Ryan (Lizzie Wemyss), and Paul Gorman (Josiah and Kezzie Beardsley). Scottish actor Jamie Roy, one of the stars of the Outlander prequel, Blood of my Blood, which is premiering on August 8, was also in attendance. (Roy is playing Brian Fraser, father of Heughan’s Jamie.)
Based on photos, it appears that Rankin’s onscreen wife, Sophie Skelton, who plays Brianna MacKenzie, was not present. According to her IMDB profile, she is currently shooting the sequel to I Can Only Imagine with Dennis Quaid and Milo Ventimiglia in Nashville. The film is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Hopetoun House, which is open for private events like weddings but also public tours (including an Outlander-specific tour), has appeared on several seasons of Outlander. The rural estate was used as the home of the Duke of Sandringham for the first three seasons as well as to stand in for the home of the Dunsany family in England’s Lake District in season four.
Outlander’s eighth and final season is expected to debut either in late 2025 or early 2026.
